My research investigates the design and synthesis of microporous, two-dimensional tin-halide perovskites for thermoelectric energy conversion. Thermoelectric materials enable direct conversion of waste heat into electricity, addressing a critical need for improved energy efficiency in sustainable systems. Tin-halide perovskites are promising for this application due to their high electrical conductivity in the inorganic framework and low thermal conductivity across the organic layer. By engineering a large A-site cation to sit between the layers, heat transport can be suppressed without compromising charge mobility. Characterizing the transport properties in these materials will establish design principles for next-generation energy materials.
